About Horseshoe Island Camp

Jamie Hoover fishingWith its 100 miles of shoreline and 24 miles of water, Mistinikon Lake is a fishers playground. From rock formations, bays, depth and numerous islands, Mistinikon provides the perfect habitat for Walleye, Northern’s and Smallmouth Bass.

Known for its trophies in all categories as well as an abundance of great eating size, Mistinikon and Horseshoe Island enjoy an above average of clientele that visit at least once per season, some we can proudly boast have been with us for 25 years. Our new clientele get a thorough lake orientation, which includes a topo map of the lake, plus in depth maps of certain areas. In other words we strive to treat your vacation time as we would like our vacation time to be treated – get us to the spots that produce tight lines quickly!

Mistinikon gets a well deserved rest each winter with the absence of ice fishing on the lake.

Horseshoe Island is conveniently located in the center of the lake and just a short 5 minute boat ride from the parking lot.

Join us in the Fall for our self-guided Moose (bow only) hunts, Bear and small game. Hunt uninterrupted for Black Bear on our large, exclusive Bear Management Unit, pristine Crown Land for our Moose and of course bag some Grouse at the same time. Limited hunters are taken at any one time to insure the level of attention you deserve.

Our two water access locations, close but each unique in their own way. The mainland site is very popular with large groups of people, who often rent the four units and make it their own private getaway.

Others prefer the island location to spend their vacation time. Whether the Mainland or the Island a comfortable cottage and great hospitality awaits you!
